Reviews

Eagle Lake Guest Ranch has received so many wonderful reviews over the years. Here are just a few…

Deeny:
All our Eagle Lake Farm Stay expectations were met and surpassed.

The round guest house is a unique, cozy log home with ranch, sunrise and sunset views from not one, but six picture windows. No Big Box décor here, but an eclectic mix of treasures you just know have been collected, crafted and loved over the years. Handmade quilts and slippers, fine china tea cups, cast iron frying pans and cut crystal wine glasses… Everything seems to have been designed for your comfort, interest and convenience. If cooking is your passion here’s an opportunity to experiment on a beautiful, original wood cook stove (but a modern gas stove is also provided).

We loved exploring the farm and meeting the animals – 3 friendly dogs who adopt you immediately if you’re open to it; Snow Leopard the cat; chickens that will follow you around like puppies, affectionately named cows (Georgia); horses and mules. Once more, not staged but a real property established over the years by the owners who work it and love it, and can provide a back story about any of the nostalgic and antique pieces found throughout the property.

And there’s Eagle Lake with its clear turquoise water and white sandy beaches just a short path from the house. A lovely  place to swim, relax, canoe or fish. All this surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in BC.

Finally, Clay, Marilyn and their family couldn’t be more welcoming and friendly. While they are carrying on with the daily business of running their ranch, they’re always attentive with offers and suggestions to make your experience as good as it can possibly be. It couldn’t have been any been any better, I know I’ll be back.

Brigitte:
Marilyn and Clay have been wonderful and attentive hosts! Their beautiful guesthouse provides a real pioneer and ranch feeling. It is well kept, clean and cosy, and with a 360 degree view into a beautiful landscape. We enjoyed our stay very much, and had the possibility to get a glimpse into a working ranch’s daily life. Everything has been the way as described, and we and our children would love to come again!

Carman Jager, Switzerland:

As a student in a teacher school, I was looking for a place to do my foreign language practicum. Acquaintances from Switzerland gave me the address for Marilyn and Clay, who gave me the possibility to stay with them for three months. Although I got many family pictures, and was having E-mail contact before the trip had started, I wasn’t sure what would attend me. As soon as I arrived in Vancouver, I felt that all these worries were unfounded. The whole family greeted me with such a friendliness and warmth, that all doubts disappeared at the very first moment.

The time I stayed in Enderby passed very fast. It was a varied time in the middle of great nature, which I was spending with this lovely family. Camping, family parties, shopping trips, swimming in the near river and numerous pets on the farm made my English practicum a wonderful experience. And I learned the English language. After this trip I made the First-Certificate in English. In this three months I have grown fond of Hanna, Reece, Mack, Marilyn, Clay and Canada. So much that I went back again in summer 2003 together with my boyfriend Michael.

Michael,  Switzerland:

My girlfriend Carmen and I had the opportunity to stay for two weeks in Canada to get an impression of the Canadian way of life. Marilyn and Clay prepared especially for us a Camper. It was a cozy and comfortable home. Because I’m very interested in fishing, I organized a fishing license for myself. With this license, I had permission to fish in the nearby river (Sushwap) and in many other places. The amount of caught fishes became almost minor beside the magnificent nature.

I was welcome very friendly and warm. The long and interesting discussions I had with Marilyn and Clay on the deck of their house with a couple of beers haven’t been just useful for my English understanding. The three kids accepted me immediately. Very quickly they asked me and my girlfriend to join them in playing a game. Marilyn, Clay and their kids are lovely and interesting people, who I would like to see again.

Kevin:

I know I definitely want to come back out your way. We really loved the lake, but also the cabin, farm and Clay was an amazing host. Really great vibe out there.

The girls were blown away by the lake, totally. Cypress said it was one of the best places she’s been, ever.
I hope the rest of your haying goes well, take care and thanks again.
Oh and the salmon, well Beth canned that up and its Skeena River sockeye, gifted to us by some Gitksan folks. Enjoy!
